Ray is a childhood friend of Jessie from middle school onwards, along with Mae The three of them were often compared to the lead characters in Harry Potter. Mae fit the bill of the one brilliant in school while Ray was very much Ron-like in his performance. Though, to be honest, Jessie was not much better. Ray graduated high school with a chef certification program and starting working in various local establishments.
