-Captain Salvik+Captain Arraid
 Ship’s Captain Ship’s Captain
-Captain Salvik is the first Vulcan Captain of a Cruiser to command a non-Vulcan Crew (The Intrepid was all Vulcan). He has a reputation as a cunning officermuch in part from his years leading the Desert Sehlats Prime Team on board the USS Enterprise (briefly on assignment) and the USS LexingtonSalvik is an atypical Vulcan who has sought command his entire lifeLike other Vulcan’s he does not express emotion, but unlike many others of his race, he has grown adept at recognizing and evaluating the emotions of others. Salvik has master the art of appearing warm, especially to humans, when needed, though his ability to switch this on and off can be disquieting to those who see itSalvik is a model officer, who is hard when needed, but able to connect with the crewOver the last two years, the Kennesaw has already been in several tight situations, where Salvik’s clear thinking, and shrewd tactical mind has saved the dayThe crew of the Kennesaw like to boast that Salvik has all the positives of a Vulcan, without other stuff that drives humans crazyWhile he was a senior in the Academy while, Phillip Kossnett was a Freshman, Salvik’s race has counted against him in the minds of the promotion boards, as well as his extended tour on a Prime Team. While this has not embittered Salvik in the least (after all he is a Vulcan), Salvik has made a point of seeking out others who might be in a similar situation+
-Commander Condoleezza Walker+Captain Arraid Kyltal Merrark Uran Bretan is the first Andorian captain of a Constitution Class Starship. This is his second ship command, after command of the DD class NCC 534 USS EisenhowerArraid has dreamed of the sought-after command of a first rank cruiser his whole careerKnowing that most of his race struggle with non-AndoriansArraid dedicated himself to the study of other cultures and interactionsToday he is quite adept at interactions with any race.
 +
+Arraid has served with distinction in his various roles, including service as executive officer on the USS Farragut, where he had also been the briefing officerHowever, his Silver Star was awarded while leading his Prime Team the Rat Knights to defend colonists of Argosa V from pirates while coordinating with the leader of the Tiberians who were stopping the massive local beast threatening to trample the locals and eat their food supplyIt was that action helped to set both Prime Team leaders on fast track to their respective Captain’s Chairs.
 +
+While less distant than typical, Arraid still engages in a formality with the crew, and is always impeccably groomed (think Picard more than Kirk). He has already earned the respect of his new senior staff through his interpersonal skills during the shakedown process for the newly refitted Excelsior.
 +
 +Commander Lesia Flores
 First Officer First Officer
-Commander Walker is in her first year as an Executive Officerhaving joined the Kennesaw just after her refit. She is highly intelligent and focused. No-nonsense, Walker has never put aside time for a family, and always concentrated on her career. She is in top physical condition as well. As the executive officer, it is up to her to run the ship, and she uses her vast reserves of energy to keep the Kennesaw running very tightly. She is very much “by the book”often in reaction to Salvik’s more oblique stylethat was so successful as a Prime Team member. Commander Walkeroften finds herself in a “bad cop” rolewithout quite meaning too. The running joke is that Walker is more of Vulcan than the Captain. Walker was passed over for an XO spot previously, but specifically requested by Salvik when his previous XO moved to his own command. Salvik say she would be a a good Executive Officer, and Walker keeps the Kennesaw running as tightly as any Vulcan would. It is one of the supreme ironies of the universe, Walker’s Vulcan superior officer is working with her to help her “be more human” and focus on more effective ways of leadership. +
-Lt. Commander Ayla Renella +Commander Flores is humanof clear Hispanic descent, from the Nocha Terris area of Mars. She is new Commander, and this is her first time in this role. She was selected specifically by Captain Arraid from the candidate poolthough until thenthey had never met.
-Second Officer/Science Officer +
-An ethnic Orion, Ayla is a rarity on a Starship. With a people never enamored of the restrictions placed on them by the Federation, and historically resentful of Star Fleet, Ayla is an outstanding exception. One of the best Science Officers in the Fleet, Lt. Commander Renella excels in several science areas. Ayla is a always the Captain’s first choice for difficult scientific questions. Ayla has also show a strong aptitude for making solid command decisions, and she has earned the Silver Star for her actions as part of an away team, saving the rest of the party (including Captain Salvik). She is well liked by the crew, who have more than accpeted Ayla as just not a “Orion Dancer” but as a stong part of the crew+Commander Flores is warmand easily approachable by any in the crew. At 5’2”, she is short for human, but her outgoing personality makes her seem biggerShe takes her role seriously and is making sure that the Excelsior is run to the Captain’s liking but has not alienated any of the crew. She is delighted by the mentoring provided by Arraid.
-Lt. Commander Zell Forrest +
-Briefing Officer (3rd Officer) +Lt. Commander William Derbyshire
-Zell Forrest is another former member of Captain Salvik’s old Prime Team, and actually replaced Salvik as the leader of the Desert Sehlats. Commander Forrest hails from the North American continent on Earth, from the state of Georgia. Ironically, he grew up in the city of Kennesaw, near the battlefield for which ship is named (Kennesaw Mountain)Speaking with an archaic “southern” accent, Zell is quite character. He has studied military history of all the Full Member races extensively, has been a Civil War Re-enactor (and you though they were eccentric in 2003), and is a master of strategic games. As a briefing officerthe Lt. Commander feels it is his duty to keep the Kennesaw crew on their toesand organizes many drillsoften with unusual problems. Zell is well liked by the crew for his charming accent, interesting stories, and wry sense of humor. In any situation he seems totally at ease, and never quite seems to be taking things too seriously, right up to the point of combat, where he becomes dangerously silent. In his free time, Zell spars with Commander Walker in the gym, and plays complex strategy games against Captain Salvik or simple game from Vikkar (Chut-ritt’s homeworld) that is quite similar to the Earth game of “go”. +Briefing Officer (Second Officer)
-Lt. Commander Andrid +
-Chief Engineer (4th Officer) +William Derbyshire hails from London and is a throwback to the middle of the 20th CenturyHis commanding English Accent is emitted from under large bushy mustache. He appears quite happy in his role and is entering his 5th year as the briefing officer for the Excelsior.
-The gruff Commander Andrid is a classic Andorian. Always terse and to the pointAndrid is as efficient with language as he is with a warp drive. Andrid has no desire to move up in command, and thoroughly enjoys his work in the Engineering sections of the ship. It is rumored he never takes shore leave (a rumor that is in almost true) and instead spends his time working on ancient machine designs (such as his motorcycle). Andrid is one of the officers that Salvik brought with him from the Hardwick when he assumed command of the Kennesaw, for his outstanding abilities. Andrid always gives insanely short times for repairs, and somehow them makes them, usually to within the minute. Because he is fourth in the chain of command, Andrid serves his shift on the bridge, but almost always from the Engineering panel and not the Captain’s chairWhile not generally like by the crew at large, the his staff genuinely likes him. Not noted for their personal interaction skills anyway, the engineers are more than willing to overlook their commander’s shortcomings to learn from his almost magical level of technical expertise. Andrid is also perhaps the closest person to Commander Walker. While Andrid often runs afoul of her by-the-book” approach (he does not do what the book says, but what works), Andrid fully understand rules and how she plays them. Andrid and Walker have been noted as of late, spending off time together on various ship-based projects, starting its own rumor mill, to which they seem oblivious+
-Lt. Commander Chut’ritt+Commander Derbyshire is exactingbut faireven if he sometimes appears to be a task masterHowever, he enjoys sports for exercise, and the away team department always wins any interdepartmental soccer matchesMore than one young crewmember has found Coach Darb” has steered him or her in the right direction
 +
 +Commander Edward Okoye, MD
Chief Medical Officer Chief Medical Officer
-A rare specimen indeed, Chut’ritt is a Kzinti in Star FleetChut’ritt is from a world near the borderthat was lost to the Patriarchy before the first Federation-Kzinti warCalled Vikkar, it was discovered on the Federation side of the borderThe original colonists of Vikkar were seeking to flee the Patriarchy, and had left shortly after the Kziniti discovery of Impulse (and thus Strategic Warp) driveThey continue to practice different way of life than their brothers and sistersthat has an focus on inner strength, and a philosophy similar to Zen on EarthVikkar has only a small amount of ongoing contact with the rest of the Federation. There is one trading space port, and that is where Chut’ritt grew upChut’ritt’s father was a trader, who took him on his travels. Already from an eccentric family, Chut’ritt found an interest in further exploring the galaxy, and Star Fleet seemed the best way to do thisHis father used contacts on Reagan’s World to get Chut’ritt into the Academy testingChut’ritt was on the Desert Sehlats under Salvik, as the team Doctor. He is very experienced in xenobiologyas well as medicine for most of the Federation racesChutritt attacks his duties with the same ferocity that Kzinti are know to use in combatBrought with Salvik, Chut’ritt is a valuable member of the crew. Many of the crew have had to get used to the large Kzinti in their midst, but Chut’ritt shows a compassion and warmth not normally associated with his raceMany crew members have found themselves asking Chut’ritt for advice, and finding themselves answering his Zen-like questionsChut’ritt has more than once settled Senior staff meeting “discussion” with pointed question+
-Marine Major Isaiah Sharone+DrOkoye (Doc OK) hails from the colony of New Axumsettled mostly by humans from the African continentHis skin is a deep black that appears almost Rigellian. He is the oldest member of the crew and has served longer than any other personIn what seems to be a Star Fleet tradition, he has been close to the past two captainsas a personal confidant and consultantIt remains to be seen if he will fill that role with Captain Arraid.
 +
+While Dr. Okoye can have booming voicehe is quite gentle and calming. He is an expert on Federation biology, and xenobiologyHe has written 11 papers in his time on starships and is cited in three different medical textbooksAnyone on an away team knows if they can get back to the shipthe Doctor will make it “OK”.
 +
 +Lt. Commander Amanda Nicholson
 +Science Officer (Third Officer)
 +
+Commander Nicholson was raised by her scientist parents on a small research colony with a number and not a name. As all too often happens at these outposts, Star Fleet was required to save the colony from a local disasterEntranced by their saviors, Amanda eventually decided to join Star Fleet, and her father used his contacts to get her an appointmentAmanda is not interested in command, and frankly would rather Commander Kayto be the third officerbut her spotless record and service seniority prevented that.
 +
 +Lt. Commander Gonsoc Kayto
 +Chief Engineer (Fourth Officer)
 +
+Commander Kayto served as Chief Engineer on the Eisenhower under Captain Arraid. He is a skilled engineerbut one who does not suffer fools gladly. His service record is marked by reprimands for insubordination and at least once trip to the brig for a fight. His record also shows commendation for bravery, including saving a dozen lives in the engineering accident which took the life of the woman he replacedIronically, considering the long-standing animosity between the two races, Kaytos attitude has improved under the coaching of Captain Arraid, who values his advanced skills. Kayto sees this post as a chance to leave some of that past behind. He is still going to tell you if he does not like youHe is also fiercely protective of his ship and her crew. While he is riding his staff hard, the Excelsior was able to complete shakedown trials two weeks early under his leadership, giving the crew extra shore leave. No one is sure who first nicknamed him “Speedy Gonsocles”, but it has stuck and Kayto has taken in it good humor. In fact, he now drinks coffee exclusively mug with an old cartoon mouse on it, and refers to his staff as “Mi hombres”.
 +
 +Chief Petty Officer Darmok Sung
 +Chief Quartermaster
 +
+Quartermaster Sung as been in his role since signing on two captains ago. He has little interest in moving on from his ordered world. Prellians like to go by their surnameso he goes by Sung. Sung is quiet and reserved, preferring an ordered mind, and ordered life. He had considered being a Stone Singer as a child, like his mother, but was too fascinated by space travel and it supportSung is quite happy in his current role, and takes what others see as an almost religious pride in the tools and equipment he provides to the crew of the Excelsior Indeed, he maintains a ready rate that is 20% higher than standard. Arraid plans to use all his bureaucratic wiles to keep Sung on his ship, and not to be poached by Commodore of Command Cruiser.
 +
 +Marine Major August Guon
Head of Security Head of Security
-Isaiah Sharone is a quiet man, who has acted as Security head an a Previous ship (DD) and served on Prime team. He is quite good at his joband spends much of his time working on training programs for the crew. Major Sharone uses an understated style that leaves you feeling as if he is one of the most dangerous people who have ever met (he is)+
-Marine Captain Al’ust B’eens +Major Guon was selected by Captain Arraid because they served together on their Prime Team. Guon is an expert in heavy weapons and small unit tactics. He is a large manwith clear north European heritage, right down to his close-cut red hairStanding at 6’5”, and half that wide, Major Guon is an imposing man. His hearty laugh is often heard to echo down the ship. Guon’s statement to his team when he boarder was “We are NOT in the business of letting anyone take over the shipThere are to be no “Guest Bridges” on board the Excelsior!
-Second in Command Security +
-Al’ust B’eens is a classic RigellianHe is an enthusiastic Marine, and implements the training programs laid out by IsaiahAl’ust was often on any away missions, and has show some disappointment that a Prime Team will now be assigned to the Kennesaw, but his natural enthusiasm won’t let him stay down for long+Marine Captain “Major” Sonora Deseo
-Lieutentant (SG) Layla Myrinn+Second in command for Security
 +
+Sonora Deseo is a small woman, just at 5’2”, of clear pacific islander descentShe had 6 older brothers, and say they taught her how to fight. She is an expert at several forms of Terran and other martial artsShe is more serious than her new boss, and had hoped to succeed her old one, but was too juniorShe is still working on adjusting to not getting the job, though only “Coach Darb” knows the full extent.
 +
 +Chief Petty Officer Ty Sothear
 Transporter Chief Transporter Chief
-Always calm in an emergencyLayla is an away team favoriteShe is quite skilled and knows transporters like nobody’s business, and she is always the one that everyone wants to see when they are beaming downLayla has saved more than one crew member from certian doom in the nick of time+
-Lieutenant (JGKerri’Sol+Most ships do not have a published senior enlisted man running their transporterbut the crew of the Excelsior is glad to have himChief Sothear wrote three papers on ion storms and use of transporters, one of which changed Star Fleet’s training. He is introverted, and tends to spend his off time by himself, however, he regularly pulls extra shifts, feeling that it is his duty to be there when Away teams are in actionHe has been knows to nap on a cot set up in the transporter room for long missions.
 +
 +Lieutenant (SGUni Cavelar
Shuttle Crew Commander Shuttle Crew Commander
-Kerri’Sol is annoying but skilled. She is not only adept at managing the shuttlesbut is in fact a hotshot pilotIf she can show more discipline, she would be in line to become a fighter pilot. +
-Chief Pety Officer Petri Jokinen +Uni should have been a fighter pilot, but she loves working with teams. She is energetic and excited all of the timeand her energy is infectiousCommander Flores notes her department is the happiest on the ship. Uni’s biggest leadership flaw is taking the hard missions for herself, and it is something Commander Flores is working on with herHoweverher skill as pilot means she is the one the away teams want when they know it will get hot.
-Chief Quartermaster +
-CPO Petri Jokinen, or “Peter the Great” as his is affectionately known, is in charge of the ship’s stores. Petri keeps a close eye on the ship’s stores, often referred to as “Petrograd” by the crewPetriin attitude sounds and feels lot like Q from the James Bond movies, and tends to regard Prime Teams with the same tired disdain+Lieutenant (JGBarikoen
-Lieutenant (SGTlon +Nurse
-Senior Helmsman +
-T’lon is the Senior Helmsman of the Kennesaw, and as such spends most of her time on the bridge. T’lon is a good officer, if somewhat distant from the rest of the crew, a problem for many Vulcans. She is not yet sure what to make of her Captain, and every time she thinks she has Salvik understood, he suprises her with another action she did not prediect, yet in retrospect is totally logical. Salvik takes time with T’lon to help her follow his reasoning during their games of whatever passes for “Go” on Vulcan+Bari is a ship favorite, especially with the male of the crew. Her natural racial traits do not hurt her as much in the medical field as they would in the more regular navy parts of the ship. She has a great sense of humor, and bedside manner. Doc OK has noted more than one young male crewman showing up for treatment of minor injuries just to say hi to Nurse Bari.
-Lieutenant (SG) Geoffory Hammer+
 +Lieutenant (SG) Sendor’telmoth’Venel
Senior Weapons Officer Senior Weapons Officer
-Geoff Hammer was brought by Salvik from the Hardwick. Lt. Hammer is a skilled weapons officer and the only person on the ship that Salvik will address as “Mr.”. So legendary are “Mr. Hammer’s” abilities, firing weapons on the ship is often referred to as “bringing down the Hammer”. Geoff enjoys his job, and his reputation, especially with the female members of the crew. While sometimes he can be insufferably smug, Geoff has yet to let his success go to his headFortunately, he does not know that Salvik was only able to keep him, because he was willing to take on a “hard case” like Commander Walkera deal Salvik was delighted to make (not thinking Walker was that hard a case in the first place). With a life long interest in weapons of every kind, Geoff spends much of his time honing his dexterity in a variety of computer games, sword play, target practice with a variety of weapons+
-Lieutenant (SGSarah Alalor+Venel is the only Fraili on board the Excelsior and he brings some curiosity from the rest of the crew. He delights in powering his own array of devices to the interest of his shipmatesAs a weapon’s officer over the past 18 months, he has already shown good skill in several encounters. The Captain has impressed him with his rapid learning about the formality of Fraili culture. Venel is rapidly becoming close to Lt. Commander Kaytogiving him his first true friend since he joined the crew.
 +
 +Lieutenant (JGAdam Lotario
Senior Communications Officer Senior Communications Officer
-Sarah is a thoroughly professional office who has mastered her craftShe is well liked by her fellow crew members, and is espcially liked by Salvik for the logical way she is able to order messages from Star Fleet+
-Lieutenant (SG) Terri Rothry +Adam Lotario is young for his roleHe was assigned at the last moment when the former Senior Communications Officer, as the newly promoted Caitain Lieutenant (SG) M’Ress was transferred to another ship. Adam is excited to be jumped up into this roll, and understands he is under the close watch of both Commander Flores the Captain. Adam is dealing with this pressure by trying to live up to his Italian heritage and name and is doing a good job with wooing female crewmenHowever, Lieutenant Cavelar appears totally immune, and Nurse Bari has clearly friend-zoned him.
-Nurse +
-Energeticperkyand little manicTerri always seems to be doing two things at once, one of the usually talking – totally the opposite of DrChutRittThe two get along welland Terri is a favorite of the crewespcially the young human males+Lieutenant (SG) H’Farri “Far Man” M’anglar
-Ensign Ellen Ford+Senior Helmsman
 +
+One of four Rigillians on board“Far Man” is the only one not in the Marines. He is slender for his racebut has their common, solid personality. Unusual for non-VulcanFar Man has some psionic abilities of precognitionHe says that he has little control of his ability, but Venel is sure he has moved the Excelsior from harms way more than once when there was no way to know to move like thatFar Man just shrugs it off. Outside of Venel’s statementsno one is fully convincedbut Far Man finds it hard to find people for card games.
 +
 +Ensign Suzi Akashi
 Captain’s Yeoman Captain’s Yeoman
-Earnest and hardworking, Ensign Ford repeatedly goes above and beyond her duties in tending to the needs of Captain SalvikWhile most of the crew tend to standoff from someone so close to the Captainshe is close friends with SarahFortunately for Ellen, Salvik has an ordered logic to his meetings and actions that is ordinarily uncharacteristic for such dynamic leader.+
+One of the hardest jobs on the Excelsior is that of the Captain’s YeomanSuzi does this job very well but is currently stressed with the way her new Captain changes his schedule. Always working to meet the needs of his direct reportsArraid will put his tasks on hold to put in appearances and meet with crewHe depends on Suzi to keep the meetings organized and still make sure he gets everything done. Suzi has found, however, Arraid is quite patient with her, big change from her last boss.
