History

Grammell Taychar and Cardello Sulsas

Captain Taychar is a disenchanted former soldier who left the Talden infantry and decided to be a Mercenary. He took his company Sergeant, Cardello Sulsas with him. The two were no longer interested in engaging in whatever misuse of the army was going to make the current noble leader richer. As a patriot, Taychar had enough. It was time to leave the corrupt military behind and enrich himself. Taychar has already risen as high as he could without a title but was able to pay his way out of his active commission, and is officially retired with a small pension that goes to his younger sister, Sella. Cardello is the oldest human member of the group, at 32, and a seasoned sergeant. Also disgusted, he left with his current leader and the two decided to engage as swords and agents for hire. Both knew that they would need others for their outfit, both fellow sell-swords and additional agents, in order to maximize their effectiveness, and therefore the prices they could command.

Hulgra and Viaria Raveneyes

Hulgra always knew she was called to be a priestess. As long as she could remember, there was a woman’s voice calling to her to serve. Her parents were poor, but the girl showed some promise. She was taken from her home at age 13 and grew in a shrine of Iomede. But, Hulgra’s nature was misaligned with the lawful practices at the shrine, and the orders of the head Cleric, Ottia. Hulgra was miserable there, unable to manifest any connection or powers. This was seen as her being stubborn and not following her destiny. However, the reality is that Hulgra was called by the demigoddess Alala. Finally, Hulgra connected to her goddess and her powers erupted in a great scream of rage and anguish. The damage to the temple was significant, and Ottia appeared to be dead. Not waiting for punishment she was sure would follow, Hulgra fled the isolated shrine and went to Oppera. It was here the fleeing young lady ran into Viaria Raveneyes.

Viaria was born graft as part of a travelling carnival. He learned to pick pockets and engage in physical feats to wow the crowd. Not interested in the other children, he would spend time with the performing animals. Like many of the children he tried the various performances and was seen to be good with a bow. By adolescence he was a skilled shot and part of the show. This life came to an end when the whole show was attacked by a youth cult intent on robbery and rape. Viaria, along side many of the other performers were far more dangerous than the disorganized bandits had imagined. Unfortunately, some of the dead ended up being from noble families, including the Grand Prince. With Viaria’s arrow sticking through the young man’s eye, he was branded a criminal. Viaria fled into the woods where he was sheltered by an old man who talked to the animals. This man was a hunter who taught Viaria the ways of nature. After one hunt, Viaria found the man to have passed, and it was while he was deciding his next steps he ran into the fleeing Hulgra. He hid her and the two engaged in hit and run traffic as a pair of bandits, living in the forest, and becoming lovers through the shared stress.

From his agents and contacts in the military, Cardello knew there was a bandit in the forests who was deadly with a bow. He and his leader managed to make contact and offer for Viaria and Hulgra to join with them to form The Bravos. The two accepted, and the four traveled to Oppera to add members to the team.

Gija Smoothstrike and Embla Hightune

Gija was born Gija Serria Sura, the first born child of a minor noble family. She brought disgrace upon them at age 16 when she found herself pregnant. Her father beat her severely, causing her to lose the child and taking months to recover. She was kept in the house, after that, a prisoner of the morals of the time. Gija eventually escaped the house to the streets and to all that entailed. Gija was in study to be a fencer, but these skills were turned to thievery in the darker streets of Oppera. It was here she met the Embla Hightune also engaged in separating people from their money.

Embla was the third child of the Varima noble family. She attended the Rhapsodic College, where she excelled in her work. Her parents wanted to marry her off to a 56 year old noble man in the Stavian family, something Embla was unwilling to do, so she refused and left her family behind, adopting the surname “Hightune” and choosing to live by her wit and performances, as well as what she could take. It was doing this were she met Gija, and the two are now best friends. It was their attempt to steal from Hulgra as she and Viaria were in the city that brought them to the attention of the Bravos Group. They were easily tracked by Viaria and confronted. Both agreed that a larger group as a mercenary life would be safter than trying to always be one step ahead of the Thieves Guild.

Hammon Torralei

The non human of the Bravos, the elf Hammon Torralei was long a student in Oppera. He was tired of the tower and seeking something larger. The untimely death of both of his parents in a mysterious fire left him wanting to leave the city and see higher horizons. So, he was looking for work when the others were in the city, and his contacts led him to the Captain. He was the last member to join the team before their first big job.

From that job, the Bravos established themselves as mercenaries able to get almost any job done. They are able to engage in political intrigue, combat, and anything in between.
